Frequently asked questions

How do I move my existing email to Tilomail?
Open Settings → Import and connect your old account. Our importer copies your mail, folders and contacts from Gmail, Outlook, iCloud or any IMAP provider, usually in a few minutes. Your original account stays untouched, so you can switch over at your own pace.
Is Tilomail really free?
Yes. The Personal plan is free forever and includes 15 GB of storage with no ads and no tracking. Paid plans — Plus and Business — add storage, custom domains, unlimited aliases and team features. You can start free and upgrade only if you need to.
How do I reset my password or set up two-factor authentication?
Go to Settings → Security. From there you can change your password, turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app (TOTP), or register a passkey for passwordless sign-in. We recommend enabling at least one second factor and saving your recovery codes somewhere safe.
How is my mail kept private?
Your mailbox is encrypted at rest with AES-256, and every connection is protected with TLS 1.3. A zero-access design keeps your mail locked to keys tied to your login, so it isn't readable by our systems or staff — and because we run on subscriptions, we never scan your inbox for ads. There's a full breakdown on our security page.
Can I use my own domain?
Absolutely. On the Plus and Business plans you can host you@yourdomain.com on Tilomail. Add your domain in Settings → Domains and we'll walk you through the exact DNS records — MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC — step by step, then verify them for you.
What are aliases and how do I use them?
An alias is an extra address that delivers to your inbox — like shopping@tilomail.com or a random address for a one-off signup. Create a fresh alias for each service, and if one starts attracting spam, disable it in a click. Your real address stays private and your inbox stays clean.
Which apps and devices does Tilomail work with?
Use the fast web app, or native clients for iOS, Android, Mac and Windows. Because Tilomail speaks open standards — IMAP and SMTP for mail, CalDAV and CardDAV for calendar and contacts — it also works in Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird and most other clients. Generate an app password in Settings → Security to connect them.
How does billing work, and can I cancel?
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually, and you can change or cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, then drops to the free Personal plan — your mail stays with you.
Can I get a refund?
If something isn't right, email support@tilomail.com and we'll do our best to make it right. Specific refund terms are described in our Terms of Service.
What happens to my data if I leave?
You're never locked in. Export your mail, contacts and calendars in standard formats at any time, and permanent deletion is one click in Settings → Account. When you delete, we remove your data from active systems and let it age out of encrypted backups — no lingering shadow copies.
How do I contact support?
Email support@tilomail.com for account and technical help, or hello@tilomail.com for anything else. Paid plans get priority responses. You can also check the status page to see whether an issue is already known.
